Since You Asked So Nice...

Subtitle:  Our Super Awesome Valentines Day

Alright Sissy... here is a super long blog so that you have something to read when you get bored.  :)

I had the best Valentines Day ever... actually it's been an awesome weekend so far.  It started out after work Friday... we went to The Lion King.  It was awesome!  They added a couple songs... which were not so awesome.  But in the end it was amazing and the costumes were fantastic!!!  Then when we came home... our recycle bin was still out front.  Our crazy neighbors had not stolen it again!!  (A highlight of my day, sadly.)

Then on Valentines Day I woke up.  And went to the store to buy breakfast stuff.  (I talked to you on my way home...)  And I made french toast with yummy cinnamon swirl bread and sausage and coffee and brought Dave breakfast in bed.

After breakfast we decided to walk/hike down to the water.  We have this awesome park a little over a mile from our house... that had been closed for a long time because of flood damage but recently reopened.  Dave had gone running there a couple times with the dog because once you get there, there is a 1 and a quarter mile trail down to a beach.  I hadn't been there yet so we took a shower and walked down there.  I've included some pictures that I took on my phone because I forgot the camera but it's better than nothing.

This shows the flood damage.  The creek had washed out the trail in a couple places and they had to rebuild it.

Boomer loves hiking!

Here he is tired of sitting and ready to get going!

I thought this was a super cool tree.  It is growing out of a stump and the branches that bend up like benches kind of look like they were supposed to be roots but then they changed their mind and became off shoots of the tree.  There were a bunch like this along the trail.  My favorite that I didn't get a picture of... was a dead tree that had fallen across the creek but then a couple branches of it had stayed alive and grown into big trees!  I'll take a picture next time we go out there... or we'll take you guys out there when you come visit!  :)

The Boomer and Dave on the beach.  The beach is bigger than this but not too big.  And there are picnic tables and all that jazz.  The land to the left is Whidbey Island and you can also watch the Edmonds/Kingston Ferry cross the water from here.  Boomer likes chasing the birds... that's why there are none in this picture.

After we got back from the beach we went Valentines Day shopping together.  :)  First we went to Target and I bought Dave a bunch of two person games that we will both like to play at night together.  We got Jenga (which he had never played until the weekend before and loved it!), Backgammon (which we can't figure out how to play...), Boggle, and Dominos.  Then we went to Blockbuster and rented Burn After Reading and Kung Fu Panda.  And then we went to QFC where Dave bought me tulips and a bottle of champagne and raspberries.  We also bought brie and bread for a nice mid-afternoon snack.

Once we got home and finished our brie and bread we brought out Backgammon... but like I said could not figure out how to play it.  So instead we played Jenga.

This was the tallest we got it.  But we caught it a couple times and readjusted so it wouldn't fall.  It got up to 32 stacks high before it fell.  Apparently if you are an expert you can get it up to 36 stacks high.  That's double what it starts from!  (We are Jenga nerds...)

After Jenga we ordered take-out from PF Changs.  We watched Burn After Reading while eatting dinner.  Do not ever watch this movie.  It was awful!  Then we watched Kung Fu Panda while drinking champagne and eatting chocolate and raspberries.  I highly recommend this movie.  It was so super cute.  Plus Jack Black is awesome... no one else could have pulled it off.

And that is my best Valentines ever!  It could have been only slightly better if I hadn't watched that first super terrible movie.  But otherwise it was FANTASTIC.

THE END

You didn't tell me you went to see the Lion King! I'm jealous! You know that they added a couple new songs to the "remastered" cartoon version too. I agree - not so hot. Sounds great! As you know, we spent most of our weekend with the new Wii so I'll have to blog that soon. :)
