GROSSest Mom Moment (so far)

I've been peed on and pooped on and spit up on and drooled on... I've even had some drool drip right in to my big smiling open mouth... but this is the worst!

While laying on my back and flying Grayson over my head this morning (this is also how I got drool in my mouth... you think I would have learned) I got puked on! On my face!!! There was no warning... he was cooing and smiling and all around very happy and then all of a sudden... puke! All over me! Luckily this time I had my mouth closed... but it still went all over my closed mouth and in my hair and UP MY NOSE! I've blown my nose three times and can still smell it!!!

Time for a very long shower and a trip to the candle store so I can kill any of the smell left in my nose with that of 100 different candle smells. Thanks Grayson...

Frustrated Little Guy

Grayson is finally rolling over onto his tummy!! Knowing how much he hated being on his stomach I was pretty certain he would never be motivated to roll over that direction and also would have bet money that he would be one of the kids that walked before he crawled. However on Friday he started rolling onto his stomach like it was the most natural thing in the world and has since been spending hours a day on his tummy!

This has made me VERY happy! Happier than I thought it would... however Grayson still doesn't seem happy... he rolls over onto his tummy... lays there looking around for a few minutes and then starts crying. At first I thought he couldn't figure out how to roll himself back over so I rolled him back to his back... and he immediately rolled back onto his stomach and would start fussing again... I went through this little routine a few times before just leaving him on his stomach to fuss. I was slightly devistated because everyone is always talking about how smart they think their baby is and I couldn't figure out why Grayson was being so slow about all this... I looked away for 30 seconds and when I turned back around I found this...
So obviously it wasn't that he couldn't roll himself back over. And that's when I figured it out... this kid wants to move!!! He rolls over onto his stomach and he grunts and pushes and tries soooo hard to get himself to move forward and he just can't do it. The poor boy is so frustrated that he just cries. :( I moved his arms army crawls style for him and he thought that was pretty cool... but I think not being able to do it himself only made him more frustrated in the end.

So here is my prediction... in one month he will be crawling... or at least army crawling everywhere he wants to go. I hope!! Because I'm not going to be able to deal with the constant fuss forever!

Other random pictures to enjoy... :)

Lovin the puppy!

Humidifier

Tonight I went to Bartells to pick up a humidifier for Grayson's room. His nose has been a bit stuffy and tonight it was so bad that he couldn't suck on his pacifier and still breathe through his nose... which of course meant that he could not fall asleep. So off I went...

When I got to the humidifier aisle I was confronted with 9 (NINE!!!!) different humidifiers. There were cool mist and warm mist, AND cool vapor and warm vapor (what is the difference between vapor and mist???), there were ones with filters and ones without filters, there were ones that claimed they only shot out bacteria free mist, and silent ones and ones with night lights and OH MY GOODNESS!!! It was very confusing... they ranged in price from $19 to $89... and all I could do was stare... I stood and stared for a good 5 minutes before even picking up a box to look at them. I thought about calling Dave at home to get his opinion... but then I knew what he would say... "just get the cheapest one and come home". I thought about calling my mom... but at 9 at night she was probably going to bed... and the thought that ran through my mind was... "for goodness sakes Colleen... YOU are a mom now... and it's just a humidifier... you can pick one out yourself!"

I thought about the humidifier we had as a kid... it was loud and sputtered out a pretty good stream of mist and seemed to do the trick... it was not "warm" or "cool" it was just room temperature... which then made me think... no matter what temperature it gets spit out as... by the time it reaches Grayson in his crib it will be room temperature. There was one labeled "pediatric" (a cool mist humidifier) and it was on clearance... and upon closer examination is was the exact same humidifier as the one next to it just in a box that said "pediatric" so I thought... save $4 and buy one of the cheaper humidifiers... SOLD.

I brought it home... plugged it in... and as far as I'm concerned... it IS silent! And is spitting out misty cool air... cross your fingers that it works!!!
